#RightsMedia doc: In-studio with the Warriors. #reggae #music #Arusha #Tanzania

Adam and Magere in-studioPart two of a documentary series on the Arusha-based afro-fusion, reggae band, Warriors from the East. In this part, Ras Magere speaks candidly in-studio about politics, activism and Tanzanian youth, set to a beat from a yet-to-be-released Warriors jam (featuring a freestyle session from Magere).

Warriors from the East aren’t just a band. They’re also a group of community activists, working with at-risk youth in Kimandolu (Arusha).

#Indonesia: Snapshots of #Medan. I want to share a great passage in the book I’m reading at the moment. Pramoedya Ananta Toer’s The Mute’s Soliloquy: a memoir. From Southeast Asia to sub Saharan Africa, multinationals have been stealing resources from indigenous people since the end of colonialism. Time to learn how to stop the theft and corrupt measures used by leaders to fool the people. This book makes me defiant, as Toer spent 14 years as a political prisoner on the island of Buru.
