Chadema_logoPart 1: Chadema (Chama cha Demokrasia na Maendeleo – Party for Democracy and Progress) is the political opposition in Tanzania’s parliament. A bombing at a Chadema rally in Arusha on June 15, 2013, the day before a by-election, caused four deaths and now many are beginning to question the stability in this once peaceful, democratic country. Chadema members of parliament were arrested and questioned by police, then released. The leader of Chadema has stated the bombing was an act carried out by security forces present at the rally.
