International Women’s Day

IWD 2007 was a global day of celebration. Women marked the 98th anniversary of the political and social struggle with rallies and marches around the world. In some instances there were protests to demand better working and living conditions for the poor. The day is commemorated at the United Nations and is designated as a national holiday in many countries.
