Russia-Georgia conflict

The tense situation in South Ossetia, a semi-autonomous region located in the country of Georgia, has caused an all-out war with Russia. Both sides are putting the blame on the other with Moscow accusing Tbilisi of committing atrocities in the breakaway republic, while in Tskhinvali (capital of South Ossetia) the fighting continues. Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili believes that Vladimir Putin and Dmitry Medvedev (Russian PM and President) are attempting to overthrown his democratically elected, western-backed government because of its support of NATO and the United States while using this conflict as an excuse.
