jhr Rights Report #18: Freedom!

With news of Palestinian prisoner Khader Adnan’s upcoming release, the 18th edition of the jhr Rights Report focuses on people fighting for freedom everywhere. jhr Middle East correspondent Jillian Kestler-D’Amours reports on Adnan’s hunger strike and the use of administrative detention in Israel.

*Rights Report news update* Senegalese singing sensation Youssou N’Dour was injured at a protest in Dakar against President Abdoulaye Wade. N’Dour was planning to challenge the president in the upcoming election, but his application was rejected by Senegal’s top court.

This week, the Rights Report goes to Syria to find out about the peaceful, non-violent resistance to the regime of Bashar al-Assad.
